Selfportraits

A SERIES OF SELF-PORTRAITS CREATED THROUGH SCAN PHOTOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATION.
A series of self-portraits realized through scan photography, illustration, and projection. The choice of color and abstract forms create sensory and expressive images that enhance certain aspects of my personality.
Scanning can be seen as an alternative to classic photography that generates a coincidental representation of a current moment. Depending on the distance, proximity, and movement a very intuitive form of working is achieved. The result is mystic imagery in remembrance of vanity and glamour.
Painting onto these scans in the next step gives a sense of oddity and absurdness towards them. What would I look like if the illustrations of myself were actually me? Therefore they are projected onto my face which creates an interesting analogy of reality and fantasy.
